High salinity soil - avoiding and remediation

Around 5,000-10,000 acres of farmland are lost to salinization daily. In Esfahan, Iran a Merus Ring kept treated fields almost salt-free and irrigation nozzles clear; study published by ASCE.

Izazov

Approximately 5,000-10,000 acres of arable land become unusable daily due to salinization. Evaporation is very high, especially in very warm regions, leaving behind salts that oversalt soil. Deep well drilling introduces more minerals. Salt clogs drip irrigation nozzles, causing system failures and ongoing soil salinization. The study region spans Syria to Pakistan.

Merus rješenje

The Merus Ring was installed to treat irrigation water, increasing salt solubility and allowing the water to carry existing salts to greater depths rather than depositing them in topsoil.

The treated field showed almost nothing of salt compared to the untreated field showing first signs of salination. Irrigation nozzles remained clear, eliminating blockage issues, and salt deposits on the soil were significantly reduced. The study was published by ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers).
