O desafio
A high concentration of foreign substances (Total Dissolved Solids [TDS]) in the well water results in problems at the membranes of the RO. Minerals became trapped in membranes, blocked pre-filters, and caused fouling. Pressure required at membranes increased daily while production capacity declined. Every three months the RO membranes needed to be exchanged. Pre-filters required weekly replacement. Chemical additives slowed but did not stop fouling.
A solução Merus
Merus Rings were installed on the reverse osmosis systems to prevent mineral buildup and membrane fouling.
Resultados
→Production volume stabilized immediately after installation. No fouling observed one year after installation. Membrane replacement reduced to once annually (from every three months). Pre-filter lifespan extended significantly. Chemical additives eliminated. Investment amortized within two months. Energy savings achieved as pumps no longer required full power. Stable production with no downtime from membrane exchanges.
