O desafio
A medium-sized oil company faced challenges with water injection in their oilfield. The produced water being recycled and injected into the reservoir was causing corrosion, incrustation (deposits), and sulfur-reducing bacteria (SRB) problems in their injection pipeline system. The temperature of the water is around 50 C, the flow 47 m3/h, at a pressure of 11 kg/cm2.
A solução Merus
Installation of a Merus Ring at the beginning of the injection pipeline to treat the water before distribution to multiple injection wells. The ring was installed at the start of a 3.2 km long pipeline.
Resultados
→Corrosion rate was reduced from 6.43 mpy to 1.43 mpy (78% reduction). Deposits were reduced from 5.22% to 1.04% (80% reduction). SRB became undetectable after treatment. All three monitored values reduced by 75% or more over the 4-month trial period.
