Boilers, hot water tanks and steam generators concentrate minerals as water heats and evaporates, which makes them some of the first places limescale and corrosion appear.
Scale and corrosion under heat
Scale on a heating element insulates it, so more energy is needed for the same output and the component runs hotter and fails sooner. In steam boilers and evaporators the concentrated water also drives corrosion.
