The challenge
Well water can be very different depending on the condition of the subsoil. If the water comes from stony underground, the water often contains many minerals, such as calcium. If the soils are rather sandy, the water is often very ferruginous and contains iron bacteria. Animals may drink less unpalatable water, causing them to consume more feed to obtain necessary moisture.
The Merus solution
Installation of Merus rings to improve water quality and palatability, encouraging animals to drink adequate water rather than compensating through increased feed consumption.
Results
→In individual cases, customers have saved almost 10 percent on fodder. In comparative studies between stables with and without Merus rings, no difference between the two stables could be observed in the development of the animals, i.e. the increase in weight, while feed consumption decreased.
