Brown Tap Water | Merus

Brown Tap Water

Carbon steel pipes or galvanized steel pipes are used for drinking water distribution, especially in older buildings.

The challenge

Corrosion in carbon steel and galvanized steel pipes causes brown or rusty water at taps. When tap water is brown regularly, this indicates severe corrosion in the water system, risking pitting corrosion and high renovation costs.

The Merus solution

Installation of preventive water treatment technology to reduce corrosion rates and eliminate discolored water from pipes.

On average the corrosion rate can be reduced to less than 2 MPY. The corrosion rate remains stable at this low level. Discolored, brown water is usually gone in four to six weeks.
