Lime Slurry used to adjust pH-value

Abrasive, viscous lime slurry used for pH adjustment blocked pumps and pipes with calcium deposits. A Merus Ring kept the hose clean and pumps stopped needing frequent maintenance.

The challenge

Lime slurry (calcium hydroxide suspension) used for pH stabilization in drinking water is very abrasive and viscous. Calcium deposits form when the slurry stagnates, heavily affecting hoses, pumps, pipes, and water tanks. Pumps frequently become blocked by limescale, with pipe wheels getting stuck and impellers suffering heavy wear, necessitating frequent downtimes and 24/7 service availability.

The Merus solution

Installation of a Merus Ring device at the beginning of the lime slurry distribution line, positioned right behind the shut-off valve.

After installation, no more limescale could settle in the hose. The treated hose remained clean after four weeks. Pumps no longer required frequent maintenance, emergency repairs decreased significantly, and pump service life increased substantially. The investment paid for itself after a few months.
