De uitdaging
The fresh water generator's production capacity declined over time despite anti-scale chemical treatment. Heat exchanger plates became encrusted with deposits, requiring manual cleaning with chemical agents and seal replacement, halting freshwater production during maintenance.
De Merus-oplossing
Installed a Merus Ring on the main seawater feed line treating both the condenser and evaporator sides of the heat exchanger plates simultaneously, while discontinuing chemical water treatment additives.
Resultaten
→After 8 months of operation without opening the generator, production volume increased and stabilized at nominal output. Upon disassembly, all plates were clean with only a removable brown film present. Fleet manager confirmed: the condition of the evaporator is very good. All plates are clean no residues on surface.
