Sea water - evaporator on a ship

On THENAMARIS INC cargo vessels (Greece), seawater evaporators crusted with deposits and lost output. Merus Rings raised Boiler A fresh water output from 28 to 31 tons daily without chemical cleaning.

De uitdaging

Seawater desalination evaporators on cargo vessels accumulate salt deposits and impurities over time. The inner surface in the evaporators gets coated with a crust of deposits. This builds up over time and hinders heat transfer. This buildup reduces output progressively until fresh water production requirements cannot be met. Traditional solutions required expensive, time-consuming chemical and manual cleaning with system downtime.

De Merus-oplossing

Installation of Merus Rings at the seawater inlets and on the evaporator boilers to prevent deposit accumulation and improve performance without chemical cleaning.

Boiler A required no cleaning post-installation and fresh water production increased from 28 to 31 tons daily in the first month. Boiler B showed a rapid production increase to maximum performance and the system was fully cleaned without manual intervention. The need for ongoing chemical cleaning was eliminated.
