More than 15 years at sea
We started in Greece with a fresh water generator and are now one of the leading providers of water treatment on vessels in Europe, with Merus Rings working on more than 200 ships, vessels and offshore platforms in sea, brackish and river water. You will find them on cruise ships, container vessels, ferries, tankers, supply vessels and platforms.
Salt water, the enemy of metal
Sea water carries salt, which accelerates corrosion of every pipe and system it touches. By keeping the salt dissolved the Merus Ring reduces the corrosion rate significantly, and by raising the solubility of calcium it leaves far fewer deposits, cutting cleaning and overhaul costs.
Against biofilm and marine growth
Sea water also brings mussels, barnacles and algae that block pipes and valves and settle into existing deposits to form biofilm. With the Merus Ring no deposits form and existing ones disappear, so there is no habitat left for biological growth. Typical points of treatment are the fresh water generator, the drinking water system, cooling water, boilers, the main sea water inlet and fire fighting systems.
